The Dana Ali Band is a Neo-soul band based in Leeds. Formed by Dana Ali and Dave Hewitt, the band takes elements of Soul, Jazz, Blues, R&B with Latin and Funk Rhythms to create a fresh and distinctive sound.
Dana Ali.
Taking her influences from the likes of India Arie, Lauren Hill, Areatha Franklin and Stevie Wonder to name but a few, Dana started singing Gospel music in the churches of Atlanta GA. With experience singing in front of large audiences in churches, conferences and choirs, Dana decided to take her performing career to another level.
Dave Hewitt.
British musician Dave Hewitt found fame in the 1970s with blues rock band Babe Ruth before moving to the USA in the 1980s. Hewitt has worked with the likes of Eddie Offord, Jeff Glixman, Georgia Sattelites, Whitford St. Holmes (Aerosmith and Ted Nugent) and Steve Marriot to name but a few!
Martin Chung.
Martin is a freelance composer and technician as well as a talented guitarist. He has had success with local bands Extra Curricular, Nu Popes and Kava Kava.
Marc Leyton-Bennett.
Marc began his career at the age of seventeen as part of the band Beggars Bones. He went on to play with Shri and Jah Wobble as well as being involved in various session recordings. Marc is also an independent drum teacher.
John Sunter.
John had early success in the band Remember This, who were once promised a tour with Elvis Presley! He spent time living in Denmark and touring Europe extensively with the band in the 1970s. He has since featured in local bands Crown Jewels and Higher Ground.
