Funhouse Comedy Night at Vie Lounge & Piano BarDate: Tue 27th Mar Time: 20:00 Great night of comedy comes to Derby’s Vie Lounge & Piano Bar Funhouse Comedy Club, which already runs successful nights at various venues all over the country, is excited to announce the launch of their brand new comedy night in Derby’s stylish Vie Lounge & Piano Bar on Tuesday March 27th. Funhouse Comedy Clubs are renowned for having exceptionally friendly audiences and a brilliant atmosphere which have led to twice winning Best Midlands Comedy Club awards with leading comedy website Chortle. Previous acts to have played its clubs on their road to fame and fortune include Sarah Millican, Russell Kane, Jack Whitehall and Rhod Gilbert, who described the clubs as “among the best anywhere in the world.” Headlining the launch night will be Shazia Mirza an international award-winning comedian and columnist for the Guardian Weekend magazine who has also guested on ‘Have I Got News For You?’ From Birmingham she was previously a science teacher with one of her former pupils being the rapper Dizzee Rascal. Star of radio and TV she has appeared on ‘Last Comic Standing’, ‘Richard and Judy’ and more recently ‘The Wright Stuff’. Shazia’s distinctive act combines a deadpan delivery with observation on her world; her laconic one-liners represent something quite unique in modern comedy. Also appearing is cheeky ‘Geordie’ Tony Jameson. With his hyperactive brain and whimsical, yet quick-fire imagination he keeps his audiences amused. Completing the line-up is internationally acclaimed, award winning comedian and magician Sean Heydon with his magic, mind-reading and mischievous smile. Compere for the night is the friendly and energetic Spiky Mike.
